Service is an integral part of who we are at UISZ; but students aren’t the only ones developing their skills while becoming active and caring members of local and global communities. Jon DenHartigh, Art/Design teacher, presented the staff and students with an opportunity last month to get involved in a worthwhile fund-raising campaign.
Throughout the month of November, the UISZ campus celebrated Movember, an annual event which involves the growing of moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues.
But leave it to our Utahloy Nose Buddies (that’s another story) to go above and beyond the call of duty. Several mustache-beard growing teachers, in an effort to raise funds, sold Movember Bucks for 5 RMB each, giving participants a chance to carry out whatever hairstyle change the Nose Buddy was willing to do.
The primary and secondary students and staff raised 1935 RMB.
The three teachers raising the most money, Mr. DenHartigh, Mr. Armitage, and Mr. Forbes, are now sporting a Mohawk, pink hair, and a clean-shaven face, respectively.
All proceeds will be donated to the Movember Foundation.
Good! I think Mr. DenHartigh worked really hard on this organisation! Thank You 🙂
